Oozing
Continues to Spread, Wonders Abound
You
may recall earlier reports on Spirit Daily about the oil-exuding medals
and many other religious articles in the home of Dr. Allan Weilert,
Augusta, KS. It all began with a single medal owned by a deacon-friend
of Weilert's sent to him in December 2003. This oil has spread to tens
of thousands sacramentals in 48 States and 12 countries around the world.
See photos on our website: www.servantsofdivinemercy.org/miracle.htm
So far, Dr. Weilert has distributed over 12,500 oil-exuding miraculous
medals. If you would like to receive a medal, send a self-addressed
stamped envelope to Servants of Divine Mercy 1210 Greenfield, Wichita, KS 67217.
Reports
have been coming in about the healing power of the Lord in association
with the prayerful use of these oozing medals. A woman in California
writes about her neice's husband, Steve who terribly suffered from a
brain tumor. He and his wife prayed daily for two months, placing the
medal on his head where the tumor was:
"Anyway,
he is doing so well (no sign of tumor in his brain and is able
to walk now with no problem) and has been back to work for some time
now."
God is so kind to respond to our faith by still working glorious signs
and wonders today. He uses simple means to heal. Are the healings coming
to our attention the result of the well-documented power of the miraculous
medal alone, or does the oily film on these medals have a factor in
these healings? At least one leper returned to Jesus to give thanks.
Steve's generousity is remarkable. He has given away his oozing medal
to a child suffering from a serious illness:
"He said - "Hey, it helped me, now I want to help someone
else with it."
The woman was so happy she started to cry - knowing the gift of healing
he got
from the medal.
Yet
another young father was also healed of cancer of the brain, again,
by using the oil-oozing medal:
"Keith has no sign of cancer of the brain and is doing fine. He
is so happy
to be able to see his 2 yr old child grow up.
One
of the latest articles to exude oil is a beautiful statue of Our Lady
of Fatima that Dr. Weilert purchased in there in April. Even before
the statue was blessed, so much oil covered the state, it saturated
cloths touched to it. Some days, she shines with the oil that is running
off her mantle, according to Weilert.
In
addition to healings and the unprecedented spread of oil to tens of
thousands of religious articles, other incredible signs are happening
to many who receive an oil-oozing medal. Many people have e-mailed Dr.
Weilert with stories of "escarchas" also emmanating from the
medals. "Escarchas,"
means "frost" in Spanish. A frost-like, metallic substance,
similar to glitter but more like oblong filings of metal, seems to be
associated with the oozing medals. The escarchas most often seem to
be silver or gold--but can be many-colored, as well. Often, Dr. Weilert
has noticed them on people standing near the oil-oozing statues in his
clinic.
A question
often asked is "Why?" Why would God bother to do something
like this? After a year and one half of futher discernment, we think
the main reason the Lord is causing medals and so many other sacramentals
to exude oil is to get the attention of men who are discerning their
vocations. With all the scandals rocking the priesthood today, the Lord
is answering with amazing signs and wonders to stir up the faith of
the People of God. Yes, God is still in charge. Though the earth reel
and shake, our God is Almighty, still on His Throne reigning over creation!

A miracle of oil?
Allan Weilert of Augusta believes that an oily substance on religious
items he has collected is a sign from God.
BY ABE LEVY
The Wichita Eagle
Allan Weilert of Augusta claims that an oily substance began to appear
on a wooden crucifix he owns more than six months ago. Since then, he
estimates that more than 10,000 of his religious items -- crucifixes,
rosaries, sacred medals, relics, prayer cards and statues -- have exuded
the same oil. In some cases, the oil has emitted a rose like fragrance,
said Weilert, 44, a Roman Catholic who used to be a Franciscan friar.
The oil is clear and leaves no stain, he said. This past week, some
items appeared to have a shiny exterior of oil. Others appeared to be
dry. Weilert said the level of oil has fluctuated since Dec. 15, the
first time he noticed oil on his crucifix. "I really don't care
if people believe me or not," he said. "I see the hand of
the Lord here. My faith is built even if (the oil) stopped today. "Christians
have made miraculous claims with varying degrees of official support
through the centuries, ranging from statues of saints emitting tears
or blood to images of the Virgin Mary on windows and photographs. In
north Wichita in 1998, hundreds gathered at a doctor's office on 21st
Street where an image of the Virgin Mary reportedly appeared on the
glass door. That same year, the Diocese of Dodge City investigated a
claim that a "weeping" plaque of the Virgin Mary in Lewis,
Kan., contained drops of blood.
A DNA test ordered by the diocese indicated the blood from the statue
matched that of the woman who owned the plaque. The public should lean
on the side of caution for most cases, said Terrence Tilley, professor
of religious studies at the University of Dayton and author of "Inventing
Catholic Tradition." "I think the burden of proof is on the
person who claims the miracle," he said. "There are very few,
if any, of these bleeding hosts or oiling crucifixes that could stand
up to rigorous examination." Others are willing to give the benefit
of the doubt, including Michael Brown, who wrote an article about the
oil for www.spiritdaily.com. "The current culture, I think, is
overly scientific," he said. "God is always going to leave
room for doubt, because he wants to leave room for faith. He's never
going to make it a scientific slam-dunk. "Monsignor Robert Hemberger,
interim administrator for the Diocese of Wichita, said the Catholic
Church tends to stay neutral on these types of claims. If it is true,
it will endure the test of time, he said. "Let's give it five to
10 years," he said. "We don't know enough to condemnit or
enough to endorse it. Let it unfold, and by the fruit, we will know."
Weilert said hundreds of people worldwide have written him about his
claims since Brown's article was posted on the Internet. Weilert sent
them a small collector's medal with the Virgin Mary on it. Some wrote
back that the medal developed an oily coating and caused other religious
items of theirs to become oily. Others say nothing happened. "I
think it's a miracle," said Mary Alfaro, a friend of Weilert and
member of a prayer group he leads. "Jesus can do anything he wants.
(The items) don't just ooze" on their own. Regardless of the public's
conclusions, Weilert said he takes it all as a sign that God is blessing
his plan to start a community of religious brothers in Wichita. "Signs
in themselves aren't important, but the signs lead us to something,"
Weilert said. Called Servants of Divine Mercy, the proposed community
would include Weilert and a friend in Nebraska who also claims to have
religious items exuding oil. Bishop Thomas Olmsted, while head of the
Wichita diocese, gave them permission to explore the possibility of
forming such a community, a process that can take decades to complete.
Olmsted became head of the Phoenix diocese in December. Weilert, who
served for 20 years as a Franciscan friar, left the community in 1994
because of a medical condition that threatened to cause permanent paralysis.
Since then, he has earned a chiropractic license and operates a practice
in Andover. On the wall in his clinic hangs a framed handkerchief with
drops of oil. "Signs and wonders wake people up to God's reality,"
he said. "It's a gift to be able to see them."
Through
the Blessed Mother’s Intercession, Prayers for Healing Are Answered
As reported last month by Spirit Daily, numerous religious articles
in the home of Dr. Allan Weilert of Augusta, Kansas have been exuding
an oily substance. This unusual phenomenon stems from a psychotherapist
deacon friend from Nebraska who chooses to remain anonymous. He hopes
to be able to join in the foundation of the Servants of Divine Mercy,
a new men’s community. One miraculous medal given to Weilert’s
friend by the Sisters of Charity of Emmitsburg began to ooze oil 5 years
ago and since then has spread to various sacramentals belonging to Weilert.
At latest count, more than 2500 medals, dozens of rosaries, ten crucifixes,
nine statues, three icons, and dozens of prayer cards and devotional
badges have oozed oil in his home and chiropractic clinic(see photos).
As a result of the Spirit Daily article, Dr. Weilert has mailed hundreds
of oil-oozing miraculous medals to people requesting them from around
the world. Many who have received these special medals claim evidence
of a multiplication of oil onto their own sacramentals when placed near
an oozing medal. These blessed articles also have acquired an oily film
on their surface that is usually difficult to see, but can be felt.
Others have remarked that their hands have become very oily after touching
an oozing religious article.
In addition, some people have relayed accounts of a distinctive, rose-like
fragrance emitting from this heavenly oil suddenly filling the room,
a car, or wherever they may be. Reminiscent of the mystical perfume
surrounding St. Padre Pio or the scent of roses so often sent by St.
Therese of the Child Jesus or experienced during an apparition of Our
Lady, the fragrance which often comes from the oozing medals often draws
people to deeper prayer and a striking awareness of the Lord’s
presence. The sometimes delicate, sometimes over-powering sweet aroma
evokes reverence and peace. “It smells like an old church in here,
like incense” a man exclaimed upon entering a room with many oozing
sacramentals.
An interesting feature of the oiling is that not everyone can perceive
the oil on the affected sacramentals. Sometimes, faithful Christians,
many of whom profess the Catholic faith don’t seem to perceive
any oily substance at all on these oozing objects, while others can
readily feel and often smell the fragrance of the oil on the holy objects
in question. Other people have written that although they felt the medals
were dry upon their arrival, hours or even days later an abundance of
oil was discovered not only on them, but on other nearby rosaries, medals,
statues, etc… There seems to be an element of childlike faith
and trust involved in some cases, along with even a sort of charism
to feel this oil-like film and to smell its fragrance.
Testimonies of healings associated with these oozing medals are already
coming in. Calls and e-mail have proclaimed healings of cancer, depression,
and severe, chronic post-operative knee pain when using the oil-oozing
miraculous medals, while enlisting the powerful intercession of Our
Lady. A few individuals have even been moved to return to the Sacraments
as a result of receiving these medals. Remarkable outpourings of child-like
joy have also been linked to the reception of these medals. Calls have
also been received from men who wish to discern a possible vocation
to the Servants of Divine Mercy. In short, much good fruit seems to
be springing from this phenomena of oozing oil.
Recently, a prayer card of the Blessed Virgin distributed to Medjugorje
pilgrims by Fr. Jozo in 2002 was found to have oozed spots of oil resembling
decades of the Rosary(see photo). Dr. Weilert attests, “No oil
of any kind has ever been near this prayer card or any of these oil-oozing
sacramentals. It just coats the medal or statue all at once, and varies
from day to day in the amount of moisture that can be felt. This is
definitely a supernatural event! Praise the Lord!”
If you would like to receive a miraculous medal
that has exuded oil, please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope
to: Servants of Divine Mercy 1210 Greenfield, Wichita, KS 67217. Send
any reports of healings or other blessings to the above address or to
doc_weilert@yahoo.com.
